About Fleur

Fleur is a Naarm/Melbourne based artist whose practice incorporates textiles, large and small scale sculptural installation, assemblage, printmaking and mixed media work. She is interested in surface texture, the layering of imagery and the movement between two and three dimensions.

Current Ideas within her work explore issues of female identity with a reframing of normative labelling and stereotypes. Other themes include surveillance and technology, homelessness and asylum, impermanence, death and loss. Fleur is interested in ‘the tribe’ whether it is a group of football fans, a shared cultural heritage or a gender grouping.

After completing honours in Sculpture at RMIT sixteen years ago her work has been exhibited widely around Australia including in the Deakin University Contemporary Small Sculpture Award, Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Art, Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, Georges River Art Prize, The Heysen Prize for Landscape, Sculpture at Scenic World, Lorne Sculpture Biennale, Footscray Art Prize, Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, the Fisher's Ghost Art Awards, Bay of Fires Art Prize and Victorian Craft Awards. Fleur won the prize for her work 'Yellow Torso' in the Recycle and Reuse materials category in the 2024 Remagine Art Prize, NSW.
